Sensex surges 850 points, metals rally; LIC lists at 9% discount

Indices traded at the day's high with decent gains in morning trade. All the sectoral indices on the NSE traded in the green with metal, IT and FMCG shares gaining the most.
Shares of insurance major Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India were currently trading at Rs 899.10 on the BSE, at a discount of 5.26% compared with the issue price of Rs 949.
The scrip was listed at Rs 867.20, representing a discount of 8.62% to the initial public offer (IPO) price. So far, the scrip has hit a high of Rs 920 and a low of Rs 860.10.
Over 14.10 crore shares of the company have changed hands in the counter till now on BSE.
At 10:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 53828.4 up by 854.56 points or by 1.61 % and then NSE Nifty was at 16081.5 up by 239.2 points or by 1.51 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 53853.68 and intraday low of 53176.02 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 16085.65 and intraday low of 15900.8
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1148.15,+3.98%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 262.15,+3.19%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2499.80,+2.98%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1074.55,+2.94%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2273.00,+2.51%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 148.00,-0.30%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 234.90,-0.13%), among others.
