Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty wiped off early losses and edged higher towards the end of April 19 trading session. Analysts believe that the recovery came on the back of investors covering their short positions despite Israel's fresh attack on Iran. Going ahead, they suggested investors to stay put amid geopolitical tensions.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 73088.33 up by 599.34 points or by 0.83 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22147 up by 151.15 points or by 0.69 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 73210.17 and intraday low of 71816.46 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22179.55 and intraday low of 21777.65

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7107.00,+3.16%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2082.90,+2.90%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1531.30,+2.46%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 864.40,+2.39%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12669.35,+2.20%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1450.00,-1.20%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2437.10,-1.04%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3827.45,-0.93%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3519.25,-0.89%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 963.20,-0.84%), among others.
