Pre-Session: Markets likely to open in red; LIC listing in focus

Indian benchmark indices are expected to start Tuesday's session on a dismal note as global sentiment remains muted.
At 8:15 am, the SGX Nifty futures were quoting at 15,870 levels, hinting at an opening gain of 30 odd points for the Nifty.
LIC's market debut will be in focus today. Shares of the state-run insurance behemoth were trading at a discount of Rs 15-20 a piece over its issue price of Rs 949 in the grey market, hence it may see a flat to negative start.
Investors will also closely monitor the wholesale price index (WPI) reading for April, that will be announced later in the day.
Meanwhile, in the primary market, India’s second largest non-urea based fertilizer dealer’s IPO – Paradeep Phosphates opens for subscription today. The company plans to raise up to Rs 1,501 crore, by issuing shares in the price band of Rs 39 - 42 each.
Among stocks, Abbott India, Bharti Airtel, DLF, EID Parry, GMR Infra, Indoco Remedies, IRB Infra, Minda Corp, Sapphire Foods and SPARC will also be on the radar ahead of their Q4 results.
On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 52973.84 up by 180.22 points or by 0.34 % and then NSE Nifty was at 15842.3 up by 60.15 points or by 0.38 %.
On the global front, indices in Asia were mixed this morning. Hang Seng and Nikkei rose 1.6 per cent and 0.2 per cent, respectively. Shenzhen Component was flat, and Shanghai Compsite fell 0.25 per cent. Strait Times and Kopsi rose 0.4 per cent and 0.65 per cent, respectively.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 205.12 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 46863.04 Crore.
On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 469829 with a total turnover of Rs. 38338.82 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 887849 with a total turnover of Rs. 53508.12 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 78728008 with a total turnover of Rs. 6502025.14 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 3010675 with a total turnover of Rs. 196049.82 Crore.
The FIIs on 13/05/2022 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 5714.13 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 632.50 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 10524.02 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 972.92 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -4809.89 Crore and Rs. -340.42
