Headline : Sensex gains 547 pts; Auto, Metals soar

The key benchmark indices opened flat on Monday tracking weakness in US stock futures and China's industrial output data. But, soon after, the indices were seen firming up slightly.

Maruti, Titan, Tata Steel, Kotak Bank, M&M, L&T, and Wipro were the top gainers on the Sensex, while Ultratech Cement, NTPC, PowerGrid and Dr Reddy's led losses, down up to 5 per cent.

At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 53341.29 up by 547.67 points or by 1.04 % and then NSE Nifty was at 15938.55 up by 156.4 points or by 0.99 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 53418.2 and intraday low of 52632.48 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 15939.6 and intraday low of 15739.65

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1132.00,+3.24%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 894.40,+2.57%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 2143.65,+2.52%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 5641.20,+2.28%), State Bank of India (Rs. 454.40,+2.10%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 6040.00,-2.58%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3877.00,-1.19%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 16255.70,-0.92%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1497.45,-0.39%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 236.45,-0.19%), among others.

Metal index was at 18470.56 up by 524.49 points or by 2.92%. JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 623.25,+3.90%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1132.00,+3.24%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 466.60,+2.88%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 300.75,+2.77%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 81.85,+2.70%),. FMCG index was at 13494.8 down by 12.98 points or by 0.1%. Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd. (Rs. 301.45,-5.00%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd. (Rs. 255.80,-3.60%), DCM Shriram Ltd. (Rs. 962.05,-3.19%), Prataap Snacks Ltd. (Rs. 597.25,-2.70%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (Rs. 781.75,-1.91%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3096 , shares advanced were 2198 while 767 shares declined and 131 were unchanged.
