Benchmark indices erased all the intraday gains and ended lower for the sixth consecutive session on May 13.

Hindalco Industries, SBI, JSW Steel, NTPC and ICICI Bank were among the top Nifty losers. Gainers included Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, M&M, ITC and HUL.

On the sectoral front bank, metal and power indices ended 1-2 percent lower, while auto, FMCG, pharma indices rose 1-2 percent.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 52793.62 down by -136.69 points or by -0.26 % and then NSE Nifty was at 15782.15 down by -25.85 points or by -0.16 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 53785.71 and intraday low of 52654.89 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 16083.6 and intraday low of 15740.85

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 882.10,+3.76%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 888.95,+2.78%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2194.35,+2.49%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 258.65,+2.25%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 2091.05,+2.08%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 445.05,-3.76%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 677.45,-2.65%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 144.80,-2.56%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 689.40,-2.32%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7101.80,-2.07%), among others.

Auto index was at 23747.88 up by 572.34 points or by 2.47%. Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 404.35,+8.67%), MRF Ltd. (Rs. 71949.00,+6.46%), Tube Investments of India Ltd. (Rs. 1736.60,+6.36%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 632.00,+4.81%), Cummins India Ltd. (Rs. 999.65,+4.48%),.

Metal index was at 17946.07 down by -453.09 points or by -2.46%. Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 292.65,-6.31%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 387.90,-4.47%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 599.85,-3.97%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1096.45,-1.94%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 451.45,-1.85%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3729 , shares advanced were 2279 while 1285 shares declined and 165 were unchanged.
