Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Tuesday amid losses in index major Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank amid sustained foreign fund outflows and mixed global trends.

Analysts expect the market to remain sideways in the holiday-truncated week as the financial year 2023-24 winds down.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 72470.3 down by -361.64 points or by -0.5 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22004.7 down by -92.05 points or by -0.42 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 72705.29 and intraday low of 72363.03 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22073.2 and intraday low of 21947.55

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 6910.35,+2.18%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3669.85,+1.38%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 329.25,+1.32%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1042.40,+0.81%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 986.05,+0.66%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 270.00,-2.07%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1211.15,-1.99%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 479.75,-1.50%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1754.95,-1.11%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1426.90,-1.11%), among others.
