Indian benchmarks were trading flat on Thursday late noon trading session. While Asian stocks plunged on Thursday as a disappointing start of the mega-cap U.S. earnings season prompted investors to pull back on the artificial-intelligence frenzy.

Meanwhile, shares of Protean eGov Technologies hit a new high of Rs 1,984.70, as they rallied 12 per cent on the BSE in Thursday’s intra-day trade, extending its past three days rally, amid volumes in an otherwise weak market.

On the corporate front, shares of JK Paper plunged as much as 13.11 per cent to hit an intraday low of Rs 489.95 per share. The fall came on the back of weak results in the June quarter of financial year 2025.

At 14:18 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80111.31 down by -37.57 points or by -0.05 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24418.9 up by 5.4 points or by 0.02 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 80135.52 and intraday low of 79477.83 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24420.1 and intraday low of 24210.80.

Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 1088.25,+5.90%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3625.25,+3.01%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1662.75,+2.65%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1770.00,+1.37%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1622.80,+1.13%), were among the top gainers.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1166.25,-5.93%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 2477.35,-2.61%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3399.85,-2.10%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1198.25,-2.00%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 157.20,-1.93%), among others.

Among the sectors, Auto index was at 57788.34 up by 616.91 points or by 1.08%. Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 1088.25,+5.90%), Cummins India Ltd. (Rs. 3617.05,+2.09%), Tube Investments of India Ltd. (Rs. 4028.50,+1.91%), Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 34680.00,+1.71%), Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (Rs. 3153.00,+0.62%),.

On the flip side, Metal index was at 31170.69 down by -467.6 points or by -1.48%. Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 933.40,-3.98%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 141.80,-3.54%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 182.65,-2.12%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 157.20,-1.93%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 228.95,-1.65%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4205 , shares advanced were 2153 while 1902 shares declined and 150 were unchanged.
